Design and handcraft your own tableware in this ceramic workshop.

A tableware is a loose term used to identify vessels of either seving or to eat and drink from. Loosely explained- it has four catergories: dinnerware, serveware, flatware and drinkware.

This workshop is designed  not only to learn basic skills of hand building in clay but to understand  designing and development of tableware in clay. By the end of the workshop, you would have explored plates, bowls and glasses.

In my years of working as a ceramic designer, I have found working with clay to be therapeutic and calming. It has helped me focus on the “Now”.My workshops are  fun and easy going combined with indepth learning of ceramic hand building techniques. You  will independtently be able to make objects with basic but important techniques like coiling, slab work, pinching by the end of this 2 day course.

Day 1- 

*in this full day of learning, we will go through basics of hand building in pottery. 

*Design components of a tableware on paper and start making the products.

Day 2- 

*Finish incomplete products.

*Explore and design surface decorations like slip decoration/painting, Sgrafitto etc.

During the course of this workshop, I will assist the students in achieving their creative outcomes.

Students will have access to my library to inspire and encourage their  design process.

What to expect:

This pottery course is for 2 full days of the weekend of 21-22nd of Sept 2024. 

Timings: 10.00 am to 3.30 pm

Students will be shown pottery making skills after which they will make their own designs or objects. They will be guided through their session to a meaningful outcome.

The workshop includes:

Teaching hours.

Materials and tools will be provided.

2 firings are included free of cost in this workshop.

Light refreshments will be provided (Lunch is not included in this cost, you are free to bring your own lunch).

Age group- 16 yrs upwards years.

Ability-complete beginners to experienced learners.
